Let me know your reflections. For example, what do you notice when you engage your senses, and use your environment to support you?

Beautiful, comforting words! And a slow morning coffee is a favorite ritual too - now I understand that it's because it feels grounding.

Good tips.

I have recently adapted a famous saying:

When I think,

I don't exist.

A wonderful reminder to be mindful, Kate. To live in the present moment & not let life pass us by. So easy to get caught up in the buzz these days. Thanks for this!

Our environment can jangle us but it doesn't have to. As a sensitive person, I like to have tools to calm myself when my nervous system goes into overdrive if there's too much going on. I appreciate these concrete tools to work on training my brain to BE in my environment because it's a skill we can improve. Thank you Kate!

Just what I needed today Kate as I'm feeling a bit frazzled - being new to Substack, it all feels a bit overwhelming. I shall be having a mindful evening, thank you.

Funny how we humans are able to pick bits and pieces from sources to steady ourselves. From the dark place I've occupied since my husband's death I've spent a lot of time outdoors just breathing, smelling the air and the pine, feeling both breezes and the flow of emotion, touching bark and stone, and it has been of great help. Even on those days when I sit on rocks and just yell at him for being gone.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m not surprised you are yelling at him.

I’m writing a post about connecting with nature. I also find it very healing and centring to be surrounded by trees and rocks and earthy things. Such a life changing loss can leave us reeling and feeling crazy so connecting with something so ‘real’ helps steady our ship 🙏🏻💛
