Reflections from the dock of the bay. If praying to Saint Jude, the patron saint of lost causes isn’t working, gratitude will strengthen your tired soul with its bright light. Gratitude is oil that prevents the corrosion of dark, sabotaging thoughts. It kisses our self pity goodbye.Gratitude replaces shame with love.Gratitude lights our pathway through the darkness. If you tend to catastrophize everything, gratitude gives you balance.
I have an evening journaling practice for this reason. Often, it isn’t until I’ve written out the day’s little glimmers that I realize how lovely the day was ✨
That’s so lovely Rose, I’m the same, I can get focussed on all the wrong things if I let myself, most unhelpful! Love your list, shrimp tacos especially! 😄
Thank you for including me, Kate! It feels a little kismet as your original note forced me to reflect on the piece and realise I need to embrace this practice more closely again.
Six things I'm grateful for today:
- You featuring my work!
- Two years with a supportive partner (our anniversary is tomorrow)
- I managed my first run in three months
- I dedicated thirty minutes after work to my fiction project
- The longer days are here - it's 19:30 where I am and still very sunny!
100 percent agree. On my worst days, I am sometimes only grateful for hot water. But still, hot water is AWESOME. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
