This is exactly what I needed to read today. I've been practicing for several month and can already feel my heart settling and my understanding of others deepening. Your simplified script is lovely—I especially like the phrase 'May I be peaceful and at ease.' Thank you for spreading these waves of love!
It really is. It opens up generous ways of thinking too. We don’t always immediately thinking kindly of those we feel have wronged us but by stopping and thinking, we can move past that, which ultimately heals us too. Metta is a truly powerful, yet incredibly simple practice.
As someone who struggles with meditation and anything involving slowing down and being in my own head (currently typing this while pedaling on a stationary bike) this feels doable and positive. At this moment morning toddler struggles reallllllly put a damper on my mornings and I love the idea of doing this quickly after school drop off to reset. I appreciate you!
That's brilliant! I'm so glad you found it helpful. Do it whenever you want. I'll share a piece soon with other kinds of meditation which are also a bit different to standard mindfulness.🙏🏻
I love this, my centering practice is contemplative prayer but when I escape on retreat to Cornwall, I'll sit in silence with the trees and pray something similar. I think we often pray for others, or hold them in love, whatever our tradition, but all too often forget to include ourselves.
Yes, it's so easy to forget ourselves isn't it, I think for some people that's extremely uncomfortable and takes a lot of practice. I like switching it for all the different angles 🙏🏻
Have you tried practising loving kindness? It's such an instant centering practice for me. Let me know how you get on!

I'm so glad this post found you Daphne, thank you! 🙏🏻
I meditate daily and Metta Bhavana is a beautiful way to offer loving kindness to yourself and others. Thanks for sharing Kate x
It's such a beautiful practice, isn't it Nicki? 🙏🏻

Yes, I find it terribly powerful too, and I think people underestimate that because it's so simple!

Awesome, I look forward to it!
So lovely Kate, definitely going to add this to my daily routine whenever I can 🥰
