Dear friends,
I’m a big fan of starting a New Year gently, and this one is no exception. My busiest time of year is November and December when my jewellery business is in full swing. Then I catch up with my large family over Christmas. It all takes it out of me, so a cold, dark, damp January, doesn’t feel like a time to jump into action, to give up chocolate, or to get down to the gym.
I like to rest and reset in January, in between my work and responsibilities. I hibernate under blankets, light candles in the daytime, and am kind and forgiving to myself and others. While I nestle in my cocoon, I also like to cook up plans for times ahead when my energy is back. I want to reflect on my internal stories, become aware of my habits again, and any time saps that don’t serve me. I do find it’s important to live intentionally, to be self aware, to be deliberate. By the time February comes I’ll have made tweaks that shape my life a little differently, and keep me on my own path.
It can be feel darkest before the dawn, but darkness is not our destiny. Let’s lift our faces to the light the New Year brings.
Why not make this into a little ceremony for yourself, to bring in the New Year. Light a candle, grab a drink, a pen, you could even do it with your partner or a friend if you like, and enjoy. I’ll be in the comments! Happy New Year!
