Something I’ve been interested in recently is impermanence - tolerating the notion of it, accepting the reality of it, even finding some joy in it? I’ve been listening to some Zen Buddhism podcasts around impermanence - the idea that all things are transient and ever-changing. I’ve got some thoughts bubbling on it. Would love to read your thoughts on it too x

Hi Helen, yes impermanence such an important thing for us to embrace, nothing can ever stay the same. In trying to keep things the same we stagnate as we become fixed, when it is more natural for things including us to grow, shift and change. I’ll have a ponder. 🧡

What an impressive and generous library of words and resources. As a trainee psychotherapist I’m at the beginning of my journey and am grateful to be able to learn from the words that you share. Well done on a brilliant year on Substack!

Thank you Kate for all your hard work and wisdom. I think the post 'Taking the Road less travelled' is my favourite. I would love to know more on how to relax the nervous system when emotions and anxiety are present. I am aware of how thoughts also show up in our bodies pysically. Thank you so much again 🍀

Hi Clare, thanks so much.

Have you looked in the tools for calm section on the contents? There are a few posts here to help with this, particularly the grounding exercises - the earth as therapist, the simple calm reset, and the work will hold you. You can also try the guided visualisations which you can draw on in moments of high anxiety.

All these are techniques calm your nervous system help you come into a regulated state, so will be a good place to start. 🙏🏻✨

Many, many years ago I read The Road Less Travelled by M Scott Peck. It made a huge impact on me. I bought several copies and handed them out to people I cared about. I have quoted from it, read it twice and dipped into it several times. A wonderful book.

Hi Kate, I'm a new paid subscriber and I just love your space and all your beautiful and generous offerings and guidance. I'm hoping to start the Heal Your Past series next week as I'm feeling called to some healing work recently. You have to be ready right ? 🫣

I would love some guidance on boundaries ... They have been so important for me the last few years but I often struggle with people's expectation, a feeling I'm letting people down or just general acceptance that my boundaries will be unpopular with people and so people may not be happy with me as a result!

Thank you for your wonderful work here, excited to be a part of it 🤍

You do have to be ready and I’m sure you’ll find it freeing and healing Emily. Boundaries is definately on my list, and is something I also struggled with and it’s important to have them! I will dedicate a post to it in the new year.

In the meantime you might like to look at the posts about challenging your thoughts, wonky thought patterns and the other one, there’s a part one and two, that may also help with this process. 🙏🏻✨
