Heal Your Past Series Starts Monday!
Starts Monday 15th April on Substack/Your Inbox at 5pm.
Hi friends
Thanks so much to those of you who answered my recent reader survey. I know you didn’t all get to it and that’s fine too, I appreciate your being here!
Since two thirds of responders are interested in the topic of healing your past, I wanted to give you the heads up about this new series which starts on Monday. I was surprised by how popular this is as a topic, though I guess it makes sense as I write about therapy every week. Healing the past is the main reason people come to therapy, even if they don’t know it at the time.
You are in good company here. We are a community of people on a healing journey. Part of healing the past is to know that we aren’t alone, that there are people out there who care, and may have had similar experiences.
Pain and suffering comes to all of us: it is part of our messy human life. But it can leave us with challenging symptoms if it remains unhealed, like overwhelming emotions, difficult memories, or feeling ashamed. If we haven’t found a way to fully move on, we can live with our suffering alone.
The series is packed with useful, gentle tools I’ve used with my past clients will help you integrate, heal and move on. I’m a qualified psychotherapist in the UK with 16 years experience (Prof Dip, MSc).
You’re invited, no matter your age, gender, nationality, or religion. What matters here is that you know it’s possible, and I have tools to help you move on.
We can’t change the past, but we can change our relationship with it.
Heal Your Past Series - We Will Cover:
Foundations for Healing - develop therapeutic skills to integrate and heal
Leave the Past in the Past: Let’s finish our unfinished business
Managing Difficult Memories - techniques from the therapy room to shrink difficult memories
Moving from Shame to Belonging
Creating Our Future: Forgiveness (?) and Moving On
Also peppered with somatic tools to support your work.
I’ll post this series on Mondays, (in your inbox or on Substack) for paid subscribers. The payment is an investment yourself, to honour your healing work and give more accountability.
I will also upload it as a course to my website, available soon for £59, free access for current paid subscribers and new annual subscribers.
Feedback from my previous course:
“The course has helped me tremendously, thank you.”

I recommend you find a dedicated notebook, and set a time each week that is for you alone - tell your household you are making time for yourself for an hour a week for the next five weeks.
I will ask you to focus on one or two elements of your past that you want to heal, so you can focus on that, and of course you can revisit with other ghosts that may still hang around too.
You might like to read some of the past posts that are relevant to our journey, in case you missed them - try the exercises and therapeutic journaling too.
I am also so grateful to you all for joining in with my last post on gratitude: Gratitude that Lights the Dark. It was lovely to hear how beautiful your lives are, despite everything.
I am recording audio for my posts now too!
If you would like to help me spread the word about this series, please press the like and share this post with others.
Do you have something from your past you’d like to move on from? Let me know how you’d feel if you could leave it firmly in the past.
See you on Monday!
With love

This was exactly what I needed to see today. I have spent decades carrying around far too much shame, and while I managed to shed a lot of it in the past 10 years since getting sober and being diagnosed with ADHD, there is still a lot of it there, and it's heavy. I'm very happy and grateful for this work, and look forward to diving in. Thank you Kate
